PUPPIES
How a puppy is raised for the first 8 weeks of its life can make the difference between
a happy, healthy, well socialized puppy and one that is timid or agressive, distructive,
and unhealthy. We do extensive pedigree
research and take great care in checking the health and history of our prospective parents. We work hard to give our puppies the best possible start in life.
The first 8 weeks.
When looking for your new family member go to visit the breeder and leave your heart at home. Ask for references.
Ask L O T S of questions !
Do they keep health records? Do the parents have any health problems? Are the puppies
and parents seen regularly by a veterinarian? Is the whelping area inside the home or in an outside kennel building? Is the area clean and warm? Do the puppies have room to get out and play or are they crammed into a kennel crate along with Mom? ALL of these things mold the personalities of the puppies.
For the first two weeks the Mom does most of the work. There isn't much for us to do except weigh the puppies and change their bedding. After their eyes open the fun part starts. We get
to handle the puppies and play with them. Their personalities start to develop. They are running, jumping on each other, and dragging around everything they can get hold of. We spend a lot of time with the puppies and by the time they are ready to move to their new homes they are very well socialized, have their first shots, and are well on their way to being potty trained.
